Heather Zierhut is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics, Cell Biology and Development and the Associate Director of the Genetic Counseling Program at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Zierhut researches the integration of genetics into primary care and public health with a particular interest in pharmacogenetics and familial hypercholesterolemia. She is also interested in the psychosocial and public implications involved with the provision of precision medicine services. She seeks to increase access to genetic counseling in diverse communities, increased early detection of preventable health conditions, and ultimately hopes to decrease genetics-related healthcare disparities.
